My name is Scott Winters. I am a Certified Software Test Engineer (QAI) with over 7 years of QA experience. Located in the Jacksonville, Florida, metropolitan area, I specialize in functional software testing and quality assurance consulting, and QA process implementation.

In perspective:
Software QA involves the entire software development PROCESS - verification, monitoring and improving the process, making sure that any agreed upon standards and requirements are followed, and ensuring that problems are found and dealt with. It is oriented to "prevention".
Testing involves operation of a system or application under controlled, stable conditions and evaluating the results. These controlled conditions should include both normal and abnormal conditions. Testing should intentionally attempt to make things go wrong to determine if things happen when they shouldn't or things don't happen when they should. It is oriented to "detection".
My focus mainly deals with test preparation and testing execution, testing methodology, QA processes, testing deliverables and documentation.
I typically focus on the V-Model approach to testing. This process lays out necessary groundwork for prevention and communication, and will avoid detrimental issues occuring the day before rollout. The V-Model process is explained on the "V-Model" link at the top of this page.
